How fiber internet installation works.
There are three main steps involved in a professional installation:
Step 1: Installing fiber internet outside your home.
We’ll extend the fiber-optic line from the network to the side of your home either before or on the day of installation. (You do not need to be home for this.)
Step 2: Installing fiber internet in your home.
On installation day, our technician will run the fiber from the box outside your house into your home and then install and connect your equipment. Before we leave, we will verify that all services are working and your speeds are correct. Someone 18 years of age or older and able to make service positioning decisions must be at home during this step. This usually takes between one and three hours for standard installations.
Step 3: Locating your Utility Lines and Burying Your Line.
After your service is installed, your public utility company will mark the underground utilities in your yard so our crews can avoid them. Please note that public utility marking does not include private lines, such as underground sprinkler systems, invisible dog fences, or private electrical lines. If you have these, you may want to hire a private locator to mark them prior to installation. Our crews will then come and bury your cable. When we are finished, we will replace the sod or re-seed what we removed and check back to make sure it’s growing. It may take 2-3 weeks to complete this step due to weather and the location of utility lines in your yard.
